18V LXT® Brushless 1/2″ Hammer Driver-Drill, Tool-Only (XPH16Z) features a Makita-built brushless motor that delivers 970 in.lbs. of Max Torque for up to 70% more power than the previous model for the most demanding drilling and driving applications. It’s powered by a Makita brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. It features a variable 2-speed design (0-550 & 0-1,800 RPM) (0-8,250 & 0-27,000 BPM) that covers a wide range of drilling, driving and hammer applications. It also features an all-metal ½” all-metal gear housing for increased job site durability. Convenience features include a compact and ergonomic design at only 6-7/8″ long, dual L.E.D. lights, and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort. It weighs only 4.9 lbs. with a 5.0Ah battery for reduced operator fatigue (battery sold separately). It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT System, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries. Makita® 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita® 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside. *Compared to XPH12
